Murphy

We dropped Georgia off at school and got in to the car to talk about how we were going to spend the next few hours until we had to pick her up. I suggested the grocery store. Murphy said "OK." I was making a list out loud of what we needed "milk, carrots for Linny (the guinea pig), celery.." Murphy says "yep, for Linny." I said "and what else?" Murphy pipes up "apple juice, um...snacks, um...oh I know! I know! Toys! Get some toys!" As if we need any more toys...

And while I'm on the subject...the kids and I were at Home Depot last week. It was quite fun - hot dogs out front for lunch and had a good time walking through the store looking at tractors and lawn mowers and any other power tool Murphy could possibly spot. Georgia, of course, proudly pushed Millie in the stroller...neither seems to be phased by the stroller running in to the end caps. We were in the carpet/rug department and eyed the little 3x5 with streets and train tracks and trucks on it. Of course we couldn't pass it up - thought it would be perfect for the thousands of cars we have in baskets at home. So, Murphy started out carrying it, then Georgia took over because it was "really really heavy." All of the sudden Millie starts screaming (because if she wakes up and isn't eating within 2.3 seconds she does that). Then Murphy's little switch was flipped and he is having a meltdown. Oh, and seconds earlier I ran in to an old college friend who I haven't seen in years. So I was holding a mad Millie, and now a mad Murphy because it was the quickest way to get to the front register. I'm also pushing a stroller with a rug balanced on top because it was too heavy for Georgia at this point. Georgia, bless her heart, was just trotting along beside us. I was starting to get really hot. Murphy calmed down enough for me to put him down...only I put him down next to the stupid aisle up front with the flashlights with Cars on them. My luck. I'm standing in the check-out line behind someone taking entirely too long (at least it felt that way) with Murphy crying two aisles over with arms full of flashlights, Millie bright red and screaming, and me telling GA - "just put the rug down so we can leave. No, just put it on the thing so the lady can beep it. No put it back. Put it up there..." Poor thing is looking at me like "What am I supposed to do you crazy lady?!" The cashier from the next register comes over and asks if she can help me out to my car. I wanted to ask her for her help to the BAR! Somehow I made it across the lot (Murphy and GA holding hands, me holding Millie and pushing the stroller and rug). We got to the car so I could finally nurse Millie and the kids were sitting in back. I told Murphy I was going to take the rug back because he was being naughty. He looked at me with the smarty pants grin and said "take me back to Home Depot?" I said "see that man right there? That's going to be your new daddy. See all that wood in his cart? He is going to take you home and build you a dog house to live in." Don't report me to CPS - it was only a joke. Georgia is in tears at this point saying "No mommy! Don't give Murphy away!" Murphy, who you'd expect to be in tears too, considering I just found him a new family, says "Cool!" I had to look out my window and hold back the tears in my eyes from laughing so hard! Too funny!
And then he does things like passing out on the desk while watching You Tube videos.
