A few days ago I woke up and managed to slip out of bed without Millie waking up. She can still somehow sense I am out of the bed even when she is asleep! She even slept through Mason shaking, jingling his collar, Harley's little pitter patter on the hardwood floors, and Linny squeaking as I passed him in the hall. I was home free. I filled up my coffee cup and sat at the computer. A few minutes later I hear footsteps coming down the steps, and within a few seconds a sweet little face with two buns on her head poked her head around the corner. Oh a side note - we have found that putting her hair in high bun piggies to sleep in cuts out the chance for a rats nest in the morning, and she likes to take them out and wear her hair down long and curly the next day. It's only taken me a few years to figure this one out! Anyways, Georgia usually sits on the couch and reads a book or watches TV bright and early in the morning. I thought I'd be a good mom and surprise her with a little treat. I told her I was getting her a drink and came back with her "waitress tray" (plastic tray she likes to play waitress with), peaches, cottage cheese, my coffee, and her milk in a coffee cup. You should've seen her face. She said "I've never had a picnic this early in the day before!" We sat and talked about our day to come, eating sweet peaches. Those 15 minutes before the other dragons woke up were priceless. I realize that now especially after our outing yesterday.
We met Mel, Mallie and Katie at the Uniform House downtown yesterday. Having no experience with school uniform shopping, I asked Mel to hold my hand through the process. I have never seen Georgia as excited. The girl kept bringing her things to try on: skort, shorts, jumper, Peter Pan collar blouse....Georgia kept telling me "I can do it" alone in the dressing room because she saw Mallie and Katie trying on their big kid uniforms alone. Georgia couldn't control her excitement. Her little legs were almost dancing looking in the mirror. She tells me "can I wear this the rest of the day?" Precious. (And I'm sure it's going to get really old fast not being able to wear cute dresses to school...)
It really hit me that Georgia will be in kindergarten in a month. Full day kindergarten. Drop her off at 8:30 and pick her up at 3:15 kindergarten. That is a long day for both her and me. This is it - from here on out she is a big kid going to big kid school! Kind of scary. Very exciting. Two mornings a week Murphy will be at his preschool so it'll be just Millie and me. Better have another baby to keep us company! While I know Georgia is ready for school, it is hard for me to grasp her going to school. Not just drop her off, kiss good-bye, run a few errands and pick her up. She'll be gone only a few hours less that Trevor each day! Whew...going to take some getting used to...for all of us!
Back to the day: Mel and the girls took Georgia from the uniform store and I went to the Spokane Club to pick up Murph and Millie. When we got home, I dropped off Murphy with the rest of the gang to fulfill Murphy's birthday wish: to ride in Mel's slug bug (the red Lady Bug). An hour later, after a trip to Rockwood Bakery for cupcakes, I see the red Bug coming down the street and can clearly see Mel, Mallie and Katie, and just about make out the little eyes of Georgia and Murphy sitting in the backseat. Let's just say a) Mel is the BEST and b) Murphy will not soon forget his big kid ride to the bakery with the girls.
How do I have a one year old (in 5 days!!), three year old and five year old!? How has time flown so fast???

Your family is just beautiful. I just found your blog, thanks for commenting on mine! And I love the name Millie, its a family name in my father's family.
Thanks! My dad's mom's name was Mildred and they called her Millie. Gotta love family names. My dad is George (my daughter is Georgia) and my maiden name is Murphy (my son's name)! We are pretty much out of family names for our next kid....may have to dig deep! :0)
OK I'm totally tearing up reading this! Get a grip Andrea! Your family is so precious, we'd love to get together soon!
