Growing up, I can remember always being friends with everyone, no matter what group people "belonged to." I had "nerdy" friends, "cool" friends, I was friends with people in the "popular" crowd, and everyone in between. I always had several best friends - we had our own "group."
Side note: I see a lot of the same traits in Georgia. We pick her up from school and hear "bye Georgia!" from boys and girls alike. I love this about her.
I have felt so thankful for all of my friends. When we move to a new place, it takes a good six months to have a handful of people you could call good friends. It is a rough six months, too. I definitely have my handful after these two years of living here! I feel so thankful to have friends to call just to come over and hang out, without worrying about my house being a mess, or my hair being greasy. People that understand me. People I can be myself with. I have friends I would do anything for, and I know they would do anything for me or my kids. Friends I want to be around just because they make me happy. Friends that make me want to be the best I can be. I have friends I can count on to be there for my kids when I'm running late from an appointment or to stay with my kids when I was in the hospital. As an adult, I think these friendships are stronger and more meaningful than ever. Not only are my friends MY friends, but they are involved in the lives of my family. I love that Millie knows my friends (by first and last name!) so well that she feels as comfortable with them as she is with me. I couldn't ask for a better group of people to surround myself with. I am SO thankful! And to think of all the places my family and I lived growing up, I have friends from all over the place! Friends from as young as second grade who I'm "friends" with on facebook and still keep in touch with. I love that!
