Big girl
Last night was the first night of Millie in her own big girl twin bed. I was in there with her of course. She never used a pacifier. That would be me. A human paci. She slept with us up to this point and I'd roll over in my sleep and paci her back to sleep. Not last night. I had finally decided she was done with the midnight snackies. She doesn't need to eat in the middle of the night - it was just for comfort. Boy was she un-comforted last night. She actually did quite well falling asleep (we talked story, listened for puppies barking, sang songs). It was the every-fricken-twenty minutes of waking up crying (for just a few seconds) from midnight to three that led to me looking like I need two more pots of coffee to get me going today! She is asleep still, at 7:15, so we'll see how long she sleeps in. Crap - why am I not showering now....off I go!

26.2
*Forgot to mention* What is the deal with the skewed sense of reality - while running I looked up and I'm pretty much sure I said out loud "Yeah! Only 9 miles to go! Single digits." Seriously!?
We got back last night from Seattle where I did the marathon! I signed up for the full nearly nine months ago, giving me plenty of time to train. Well, life got in the way of training, so I decided the half would be just fine, only having run 15 miles as my longest training run. Texting (for four hours) on the drive to Seattle, Di convinced me to go big, and big I went. Trevor dropped off Jason and me in Tukwila for the start. Classic: Jason asks me "what corral are you" to which I reply 26. I ask him the same thing and he says "one!" The guy is part Ethiopian, finishing the half with 6:17 splits, and fifth in his age group. He was nearing mile six or seven before I had even started. Incredible. Once we crossed the starting line I was feeling good. Nice and steady. I thought to my delusional self "If I feel this good in a few miles I will be good to go. At about the nine mile mark the full and halfers split, and I took the right path (in a moment of weakness). The right path which tacks on an extra 13 miles. I figured I was in Seattle for the race, might as well make it memorable. I ran up until around mile 16 or so, and when it hurt to run I walked. And then it hurt worse to walk so I ran. The pattern repeated until mile 26.2, five hours and eleven minutes later. I wanted to beat my AZ marathon time of 5:07, and I just missed. Trevor keeps reminding me it was a harder course (lots more hills). Maybe I'll have to do a third in a few years to break five.
I'm reminded of my run now by not being able to walk on my jacked up left foot!
It really was a perfect day for a run. The most beautiful weather...which led to my body looking like Olivia when she goes to the beach and gets sunburned. I don't think I've ever been this sunburned in my life. Possibly one or two times before from a Kailua beach day circa 1990 when my face got so fried I couldn't open my eyes. Let's just say I'm in hiding from my neighbor the dermatologist for probably a month until my rosy self turns back to normal. Anyways, lovely day, boring hilly race but the 26.2 is finished. Next time I sign my crazy self up for a marathon I will train for a marathon!!

old video
Forgot to post this video from back in May. You can tell from the blue tape still on the wall! Classic!
Lake Trip
Red Roof Inn :0)

The toys at Hills

Trevor took Georgia and Murphy on a special big kid trip to the lake for a few days, leaving Millie and me home bored. Well, not exactly. I had a presentation yesterday so I was reading and reviewing for that, painting the living room (again), going to Mobius with Di and James, totally not cleaning the house like I planned, eating loaves of still-warm grocery store french bread for dinner because I can.......

Preschool graduation! Next stop Kindergarten!
Georgia is out of preschool and on to kindergarten. I think it was a surprise to her and Emma that they didn't start kindergarten Monday, but in a few months after summer vacation. They're ready to go! I can't believe Georgia will be walking around with the big kids in a uniform next year. She has her sassy five-year-old moments, but WOW! What a fun kid. I am going to miss her all day long. Murphy and Millie will REALLY be missing her! Murphy starts preschool next year too, so Millie and I will really bond! Mrs. Tamme, in the bottom picture, was the most kind teacher. Mrs. Kelly and Mrs. Kathleen as well. Murphy changes his mind daily who he wants to have as a teacher. Good thing he will have all three as they rotate for different subjects. Every day we picked up GA from school he marched in the Mrs. Kelly's class to sit for their circle and goodbye song. Then it was over to Mrs. Kathleen's room because she has a train table and lots of fun little animals and dinosaurs. He will truly be in heaven. Let's just hope he follows directions....
I started classes at Gonzaga again. Feels good to be learning again...learning things outside of household and carpooling duties! It's a hard adjustment for me, though. I haven't been away from Millie for more than three or four hours thus far. It's my own fault. I screwed myself. No bottles equals me not going very far. She is ten months now, though, and the two and three hour classes shouldn't be a problem. However, I am apparently her human pacifier, and when she is sad or scared or hurt...you guessed it. Poor babysitters. I know Millie will live when I'm gone...I just hope the sitters come back! It's an intensive summer class - only a month long with class the first two weeks and then clinic work the last two. Fall session will be just one class (not three or four days a week!) so it should be easier on the schedule. Hopefully it works that my class is on Trevor's day off. Regardless...separating myself from the little walker is a good thing...for both of us (just not the sitter)!!
On that note...the kindergartner just woke up...off to make some breaky!

My computer is still at the computer hospital. For the love of all that's holy. Come back alive please!!!!! I don't want to lose everything on there.
