Georgia's First Communion/Confirmation

rehearsal

Love this beautiful church

Greatest Confirmation Sponsor I know!
Georgia had a wonderful First Communion/Confirmation.  The greatest part was having Cathy and Joy come and play for the weekend.  What a dear friend.

Georgia asked what she was going to wear to her Second Communion.  :)

And another good one:
Georgia: Mommy, I'm sort of glad I had my First Communion this weekend.  Now we can go skiing for two days and not just one.
Me: Well, George, now we have to go to church every Sunday.
Georgia: WHAT!??!

Blessed & Fortunate. Fortunate & Blessed.

While I can easily get annoyed as I literally walk in circles picking up toys, cleaning marker lines off the couch and carpet, picking up empty baggies once filled with Goldfish, wiping bums, wiping noses, letting the dog out, and vacuuming up nail clippings from Millie’s self manicure, my goal is to ignore the negatives and keep positive.
I have the greatest kids I have ever met.  Seriously. There are a few of my friends’ kids I love and would steal in a heartbeat.  If my kids weren’t my own, I would rent a blue van, hide out at their school and lure them in....and they would be mine.

All mine.
Only, I would have to share them with Trevor....the greatest ever husband, father and best friend.  In the terms of Grey’s Anatomy, Trevor is “my person.”  I call him when something big comes up I need to talk about.  I call him when I have a great riding lesson.  I call him when something funny happens.  I call him when I make a fool out of myself working out.  I call him to say I love him.  I text him to say I love him...only most of the time it comes out “I live you” to which he replies “I live you too.”
I love how unique each kid is.  And yet how similar they are.  There are blatant things that set them apart, yet there is an underlying kindness in each and every one that is so evident to me on a daily basis.  My goal as a mother is to have kind kids.  I think I'm on the right path.  At the club yesterday, a sitter/friend told me a mom was watching Murphy play with her little daughter (about Charlie's age) and said "I so wish I had a Murphy at my house."  He melts my heart.  He is really good at being a five year old boy.  He is really, really good at being a sweet, sweet kid.  He holds the door for me.  He holds the elevator door open for me.  He does the same for anyone around.  He puts the toilet seat down.

Blessed.  Fortunate.

Georgia did this awesome watercolor a while ago...I just got it back from a friend who make  a frame for it!

Watching Georgia at Irish dance today, so was so frustrated.  Frustrated to the point of tears.  She was having trouble with one step, and her teacher kept asking her to repeat it.  Her teacher asked if she needed a water break, and she declined.  Her little face turned red and her breathing was audible.  She danced her little heart out through the tears.  Her teacher kept telling her to relax and not get nervous or stressed.
On the way home, I asked Georgia why she was getting frustrated. She said her old teacher taught that one step a different way, but she didn’t want to say anything.  So for the last twenty minutes of practice, Georgia suffered through her pent up frustration.
I strongly dislike excuses.  If you’re late, you’re late.  It isn’t the fault of the rain or that old lady crossing the street.  If you are overweight, work out.  Don’t complain about the pounds.  If you’re unhappy about something, change it.
I’m afraid this trait of mine has rubbed off on Georgia.  She said she didn’t want to tell her teacher that her old teacher taught the step differently.  She figured she would just learn the new way.  I could definitely see another girl in the class complain about never having been taught the step.
I admire Georgia for so many things.

This is high on my list:
